Product Highlight: Sun Noodle Miso Ramen Kit
I grew up eating the occasional package of stove top ramen as a quick and easy meal, but it wasn’t until just a handful of years ago that I went out to eat at a local restaurant, Mecha (which serves ramen and pho among other delicious Asian dishes) that realized what ramen really is and what I had been missing out on. Since then I have explored making my own warm flavorful broth bowls filled with noodles and other toppings at home (though I do also still frequent Mecha).
In my kitchen experiments with ramen, couldn’t not find the really good, satisfying, wavy noodles like you get at the restaurant. I would buy some of the dried packages off the shelf and they got the job done but just weren’t quite the same. So when I found the Sun Noodle Ramen Kit, it was kind of a happy accident. While I was grocery shopping one day, I looked down to see a package of noodles in the refrigerator section that looked like what I had been searching for! And to make it that much better, it is vegan friendly, so I knew I had to buy it. I made it that night, followed the instruction to prepare the broth and noodles, topped them with some steamed broccoli, greens, baked tofu and lots of sriracha and finally had my dream bowl of noodles at home! Now, Whole Foods isn’t my regular grocery store but I stop in there when looking for specific products and everytime I do, I grab a pack of noodles.
One of the best things about ramen is that it is kind of a ‘choose your own adventure’ type dish. This kit gives you broth and noodles and you can top it with whatever you like. For this variation I added roasted cauliflower, baked marinated tofu, a semi-soft boiled egg, avocado, lots of green onions and sriracha. I often add steamed broccoli and bok choy and I have also added garlic and ginger to the broth to add some extra flavor. The possibilities for creating your own perfect bowl of goodness are endless but this product provides you with a really solid flavorful foundation which is why I love it.
I also feel like I have to admit, the chop sticks look great for the photos but it would take me hours to get through a bowl eating with them. I always try, and hope that one day I will be able to do it but until then… a spork it is!
